Diane Crites is a multifaceted artist currently living and working from Chicago via Michigan, Florida, California, Ohio, Italy, New York City & Boston. Her Mom, also an artist, was her first art teacher. Although accepted into a Fine Art program for university, she switched gears to Marketing and had a career in sales post college. She delved back into her art once her and her husband had their two children. While she doesn’t discriminate, her favorite mediums are oil paint, pencil, charcoal, ink and photography. In her latest series, “In the Garden”, Diane paints en plain air in her family’s garden grown from seed. The garden and color gives her so much joy and reminds her of one of her favorite sayings “change is the only constant.” “I believe the garden parallels our lives in so many ways and I aim to capture the energy of life, growth, change, challenges, and fleeting time. I love that the garden changes everyday and at the very same time is rooted down.”
